"Family Affair"-Watercolor-Bald Eagles
I've started a new wildlife watercolor painting centered around a family of Bald Eagles. From start to finish join me in the journey from inspiration, composition and all the steps inbetween. I have 5 postings up on our Website ready 4 All Artist Hearts to enjoy. This little ball of fluff is one of the major players in our composition. This cutie-pie has my attention!For now I am entitling this piece, "Family Affair," but I have one or two other titles I may choose once the painting gets fully underway. If I run into trouble making a final decsision I may even ask for your vote on the matter, closer to the finish line. Remembrance Day Toughts
This is a special time to remember not only all those who both gave up their comfort and safety to serve and protect our country from harm, but also all those who made the ultimate sacrifice. In honour of these brave men and women here is a special poem written especiallay with them in mind entitled, "Honour And Remembrance"(For the Devotional story behind this poem click here)
Honour And Remembrance
In the distance, a weary-hearted soldier, home on leave,
Stands mourning by a grave, this cold and dark Remembrance Eve.
He cannot help staring at the simple, white, wooden cross,
Realizing, across this yard now marks rows and rows of loss:
Symbols of sacrifice, sorrow, the giving up of life
To preserve their country’s peace from this tired war and strife.
Though night shadows lengthen, grief only deepens and remains;
His cries form voiceless words as he breathes, “Who can heal these pains?”
Suddenly! As if in answer, thunderous lightning hits,
And, in half, an ancient oak tree completely cracks and splits!
But in that same instant, this sad young man falls to his knees
Choked and grieving now for the world’s deep need for peace and ease.
With tear-filled eyes he slowly raised his head, only to see—
Divinely superimposed—there over that wounded tree,
A lonely shadow cast by the grave markers in that yard;
God reminded him of Christ’s hands—for him—were deeply scarred.
There, fixed silently upon that grave, was Calvary’s Cross;
That night he saw his own personal, spiritual loss!
He’s no longer afraid of death’s grave or this war-filled strife,
Because now his name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life!
Yes, he had true freedom from sin and spiritual death
When he received blood-bought Salvation as his life, his breath!
Yes, at this reflective time, we truly honour our dead,
But first honour the Saviour, for Jesus Died—in your stead!
Peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:7,8)

TIDBITS 4 All Artists Hearts-#1
TIDBITS 4 ALL ARTISTS HEARTS
TIDBITS: A “tidbit” is ‘a choice or pleasing bit of anything.’ One art tidbit I learned from an art lesson from one of my mentors Susan Harrison-Tustain, a year ago, was the wonderful use & value of watercolor pencils in a pinch!

If you loose a crisp edge on a rose petal or a water droplet for example, use a sharp watercolor pencil of the same color or slightly darker hue & lightly draw in a new line or defining edge. Don’t wet it.
Or, if you have lost a very fine highlight on the rolling part of a petal, just where it begins to turn over, you can use the pencil again to regain that highlight. Don't overdo it. Again, keep it dry. It’s the last fine-tuning detail work you do at the very end of your project. Enjoy!
